Welcome!
From all the members of the Portage Chapter, welcome to our home on the web! Portage is the second oldest chapter in the Montana SAR, forming in 1987. Since our inception, our chapter has worked to be a vibrant part of North Central Montana. Our members have participated in 4th of July parads, given awards to eagle scouts, veterans and active military personel, worked with area schools to encourage the education about the American Revolution as well as having honored citizens from all walks of life. We have also assembled a collection of 23 Revolutionary War flags that we loan to business, government bodies and individuals to use to honor our patriots of the past and present. Most importantly, Portage provides individuals who share the same heritage the opportunity to meet others with similar interests and pride in their family's accomplishments, no matter how great or small, while being part of a larger organization.
The Sons of the American Revolution is the leading male lineage society that perpetuates the ideals of the war for independence. As a historical, educational, and patriotic, non-profit corporation organized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, we seek to maintain and expand the meaning of patriotism, respect for our national symbols, the value of American citizenship, and the unifying force of "e pluribus unum" that was created from the people of many nations -- one nation and one people.
